Go grad!-A A +A
Sunday, March 30, 2014
You are off to a whole new chapter in your life. Don’t waste any moment of it. You won’t realize it till it’s too late but the most precious thing in life is time. You can’t turn back the clock. Neither can you stop time. So live each day well and live life without regret.
You are no longer a child. You are now accountable for the choices you make. Now, it rests upon you to write the succeeding chapters of your life. You may have had troubled times in the past.
Now is the time to move past them. Now that you’re an adult, you need to know an essential
truth—this is not a rehearsal. This is the real
thing—this thing called life.
So live each day well and live life without regret. Look for a job—one that will not require you to sacrifice your dignity and self-respect. Don’t look for an easy job. These are for the lazy. Don’t look for a high-paying job.
These are for the greedy. Don’t look for a powerful job. These jobs will take your soul away from you eventually. Look for a job that develops your skills and intellect but one that also nurtures your humanity. Look for a job that challenges you, enriches you and allows you to make a contribution to society. And you will find that a job that brings out the best in you will make you happy.
You may abound with talent but talent without discipline
will get you nowhere. The most appalling accessory you can bring to the job interview is an inflated sense of entitlement. There is nothing more tragic than
turning away a job applicant with tremendous talent but with an insufferable ego.
Live life with purpose. Set goals. Make plans. But don’t be paralyzed by your plans. You need to be flexible. You can’t control the forces of nature. Life is unpredictable.
And more often than not, life doesn’t go as planned. You’ve got to learn how to live happily despite what happens after.
Work hard. Have fun. Live for the moment. But don’t go overboard. To enjoy life does not mean to abdicate from your responsibilities. Savor the now. Cherish the joy of every moment. But don’t throw your future away.
You will make some poor choices in life. It’s all part of the journey. It is nothing to weep about. But it is something to ponder about.
You can make better choices. And you should. You owe it to yourself to live your life well. This is not a rehearsal. This is the real thing—this thing called life. So why throw it all away? You won’t realize it till it’s too late that the most precious thing in life is time.
Life is hard. And it will only get harder. But you can’t take life too seriously. You’ve got to learn to laugh at yourself and at your mistakes. Your heart will break more than once and not necessarily over a man or a woman but almost always over foolish choices you make.
In this life, you get quizzed everyday. Choose the best choice not the right choice because the right choice is not always the best choice. Pursue your dreams but don’t sell your soul in the process. Hold on to your ideals. You will lose your north without them. Integrity is in short supply in the real world. If you manage to hold on to yours, you can say
The journey does not end today. It merely begins. Go with God, graduates!
