Power as aphrodisiac

-A A +A

SANDRA CAM, Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines president, has warned she will release the sex video of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima if the Commission on Appointment (CA) confirms her appointment.

Cam’s threat smacks of blackmail.

The only way, it seems, to avoid charges she’s using the video for blackmail would be to release it even if the CA doesn’t confirm de Lima’s appointment.

When reports came out that Cam claimed to have received four cuts of de Lima’s sex videos with his driver and body guard from an unknown source, some people asked, “What, she had sex?”

Why not? They forgot the DOJ chief is one of the most powerful persons in the country today, the one who wields the sword against lawmakers involved in the P10-billion pork barrel scam.

And, as what former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said, “Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.”

Still, many people asked, “But why with the driver and body guard?” I hazard a guess--safety is of great concern for the DOJ chief.

Forget about what you have read on decals and stickers on old and rickety public utility jeepneys that say, “Basta driver, sweet lover.”

Surely, the DOJ chief doesn’t ride on jeepneys. So, Vladimir Lenin’s “A lie told often enough becomes the truth” won’t fly.

It has been said that everything, including the kitchen sink, is thrown at anyone undergoing confirmation proceedings at the Commission on Appointment.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Cam’s allegation on the DOJ chief’s alleged sex video is foul and below the belt.

But this could be an eye-opener for everyone. Watch out for the hidden cam. Better yet, turn off the light.

Watch out again for smartphones that can take photos and videos in the dark.
