Orvi’s threat-A A +A
Tuesday, July 1, 2014
WHILE taking my nap yesterday noon, I was disturbed by the text messages sent by our media colleagues seeking my reaction to the threat of Provincial Attorney Orvi Ortega to sue me for libel if I won’t stop commenting about him, especially in my radio program.
Ortega, together with his family, held a press conference in an uptown restaurant yesterday. He mentioned me and warned that he will file a “strong case” against me if I will not stop “lambasting” him. He claimed that my commentaries are becoming too personal.
He told reporters that he and his family have been affected by my commentaries. He accused me of doing a demolition job against him and claimed that a politician must have paid me to do it. He also insinuated that one of the security agencies that lost in the bidding for Capitol security provider must be behind it.
Come on, Mr. Ortega, don’t divert the issue. If you are not guilty and if your conscience is clear, then confront the issue squarely. Don't try to turn the table on me. I am just raising a legitimate concern.
As for the filing of a case against me, then go ahead. If you think that your reputation has been besmirched and damaged by my commentaries, then go ahead.
It is your right. But be sure to make good your threat. You are a lawyer and you know what to do. Ayaw lang ko’g ipapatay kay kagon ta gyud ka.
Ortega claimed that politics must be behind the “demolition job” against him. Are you saying that a politician or a group of politicians paid me to criticize you? If so, then I challenge you to name names. Who are these politicians? And why would this group destroy you when you are no longer in politics?
I am not pretending to be clean and incorruptible, but it is not my practice to allow somebody to tell me what to do in exchange for money. I would not have reached this stage of my career had I engaged in hanky-panky.
I have been in this profession for 34 years and nobody can say that they paid me to attack certain personalities. Of course, I have friends from the political circle but they are just friends.
Ortega also insinuated that one of the security agencies that lost in the bidding was behind the attack. Come on, don't divert the issue. I challenge you to name that security agency.
Recall all my commentaries both on radio and in my columns regarding that scuttled bidding. Did I endorse a particular agency? I said time and again that I don't care who wins the bidding as long as we follow legal procedures.
You are a lawyer and I know you know the tedious process in conducting biddings. Pero inyo man gilaktod ang proseso kay duna na moy gipasaligan.
Did you know that all the operators of the three security agencies are my friends? Just friends, not close friends. Just like you, we are friends.
Black Pearl is owned by Dr. Baltazar Balangauan. He is a friend and a loyal radio listener. We have been friends since his stint as Drug Rehabilitation and After Care Center (DRACC) director in Lahug. I met him recently during the induction of Padpao.
He said he listens to my radio program every day.
The owner of GDS security agency, Ben Sun, is also a friend since my Bombo Radyo days.
Tactical Security agency proprietor Jojo Alquizola is a friend. Did I endorse any of their security agencies?
I pity Black Pearl because you and Provincial General Services Office chief Siegfred Sepe fooled it by assuring that it will get the contract. Black Pearl was not foolish to just take over security matters at the Capitol without any assurance from you and Sepe.
Now, what happened? The PBAC that you headed disqualified Black Pearl following the post-qualification evaluation. The agency was not paid for the 15 days their guards rendered duties. If you think that Black Pearl won the bidding, then you should have stood by your decision. Why declare a failure of bidding?
The truth hurts. Since Gov. Junjun Davide cannot fire you because of your closeness, I challenge you to resign as BAC member or even as provincial attorney. That is if you know the meaning of delicadeza.
Ikaw ray naghatag og lama ug mantsa sa administrasyon ni Gov. Junjun.
