“Kitang-kita namin iyang ‘bias.’ Kulay nang kabila ‘blatantly’ suot nung lahat ng mga nag-’report’.”

--Presidential sister Kris Aquino, referring to news reporters covering P-Noy’s Sona last July 28

KRIS Aquino and her sisters have the right to rush to defend their brother President Noynoy Aquino. P-Noy has been criticized roundly and his ratings have slid over the raging issue over his pork barrel.

The Aquino sisters have circled wagons but it’s Kris who’s being heard.

Her first salvo though, just after the death anniversary mass for her mom Cory Aquino last Aug. 1, was fueled by misinformation and misjudgment.

On what reporters and camera people wore during the 2014 Sona in Congress: it’s doubtful if they all wore “kulay nang kabila” (color of the opposition). What’s that color to her, any color other than yellow is anti-P-Noy?

They might not have worn yellow, dress or ribbon, because they didn’t want to be confused as taking sides. One giant network, I was told, directed its on-air staff not to wear yellow while appearing on TV. Not because it’s anti-PNoy but because it doesn’t want to be misunderstood as favoring the President, “walang kinikilangan,” that stuff.

Paranoia

And was it not a bit daft to think the journalists’ reporting was biased against P-Noy just because they didn’t wear yellow?

Apparently not relying on Malacañang’s mammoth propaganda apparatus, Kris may tap her TV and social media clout for P-Noy. But as a media person herself, Kris can do it without the paranoia that the press is ganging up on her big brother because of political color.
