Sexy in City Hall

-A A +A

CEBU City Mayor Mike Rama has given all City Hall employees, including traffic enforcers, policemen and even barangay officials and employees six months to be “physically fit” to prepare for forthcoming international events the city is hosting.

Now, we can expect City Hall workers with washboards abs and the Coca Cola body, of course in bottles, not in cans.

Six months from now, the scene would be “Sexy in City Hall.”

It’s good to be physically fit and stay in shape. But it’s not easy to do it. Let’s just hope the mayor’s policy wouldn’t push City Hall workers to gobble up dangerous slimming pills, potions and herbal medicines.

But the real danger is when they would slim down so fast.

In six months, their clothes and uniforms won’t fit them anymore.

The city will be hosting major activities such as the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in 2015 and International Eucharistic Congress in 2016.

Mayor Mike Rama said traffic enforcers of Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom), who are exposed to the public, “really have to look good.” The contracts of those who fail to lose weight, he said, may no longer be renewed.

This is a case of lose your fat or lose your job.

City Hall employees will be made to enroll in sports activities or fitness programs under the Cebu City Sports Commission. I think they’ll also need a dietician to remind them against eating adobo, lechon kawali, lechon baboy, humba, balbacua, pochero and other fat-rich foods.

They have to sweat it out and limit their food intake.

They should rather join a reality TV show in which the winner is the one who loses the most weight.

Bodybuilders say, “No pain, no gain.” But many people out there believe, “No pain is no pain.”
