A CEBU-grown Indian restaurant urged Cebuanos to go back to the basics and add to their daily menu some vegetables and crops found in their own backyards.
Persian Palate executive cook and general manager Armand Vatandoost said that people these days have forgotten about “the essentials” of eating right.

“Most food is instantly prepared to fit the people’s hectic lifestyle but little do they know that eating these wrong foods makes them vulnerable to sickness,” Vatandoost said. He advises against preservatives.
During the Beauty, Health and Wellness (BHW) Show held last Nov. 4 to 8 at the Ayala Activity Center, Persian Palate exhibited its new generation of pita bread made from vegetables such as horseradish, ginger, garlic, sweet potato and squash.
Persian Palate is an Indian restaurant that has been offering health food and drinks since 1989.
Vatandoost, a vegetarian, said he feels responsible for educating customers about the importance of eating organic food. “I want to help Cebuanos achieve a healthy and better lifestyle,” he said.
Because of its extensive promotion of healthy cuisine, the restaurant received the Most Innovative Concept Award during the five-day show. Persian Palate now has five branches, located in Ayala Center Cebu, Mango Square, Robinson’s and Dumaguete.
