FEBRUARY went by in a blur. The 28 days were broken down into get-togethers, parties and events. At times, nighttime ventures clashed into daylight forays in the most jarring manner. A great example of the days in February seeming to run into nights—so fast you were left wanting more—was the Microsoft Philippine Team’s recent visit to Cebu.
The province was the chosen venue and served as a playground of sorts to the some of the most hardworking people in the world of information technology.

More than 60 employees from Microsoft Philippines (MSP) came over to Cebu. They were led by their managing director, John Bessey, for a planning cum team-building session.
They worked some, played some and enjoyed the summer sun with activities organized at the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, a tour that took them to tourist spots and the required nightlife experience that Cebu has to offer.
The trip kicked off at the resort where majority of the activities were held. They then ventured out to honor the public school teachers who took part in the "Innovative Teachers Leadership Awards" (Itla) in the Education Expo at the SM City Cebu. In collaboration with the Department of Education and the Coalition for Better Education, the “5th Innovative Teachers Leadership Awards” took place.
Ten finalists were selected to present their projects of which three top winners represented the Philippines in the "Regional Innovative Teachers Awards" in Singapore on March 9-11. Itla is an annual search for the most innovative teacher in the Philippines.
All work and no play can drive you nuts, so when playtime came socials at Formo Restaurant and Lounge showed how well the team can party. The following day, the Microsoft Photo Club had their first activity with the Cebu heritage tour. The sights and spots of Cebu have never looked better through their lenses. For some, the rest of the activities were a mix of sightseeing around town, a bit of golf or just chilling out by the beachside.
As the observer of the work and fun, work and frolic and all its combinations, it’s safe to say these geeks know how to have fun!
