AMID the word war between showbiz personalities Kris Aquino and Annabelle Rama, the Ramas in Cebu City remain committed to support presidential bet Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
Vice Mayor Michael Rama and Basak San Nicolas Barangay Captain George Rama said they will not interfere in the conflict between Annabelle and Kris, the youngest sister of Noynoy.

They both believe the issue is a show business matter and does not involve politics.
Commitment
The vice mayor, a first cousin of Anna-belle, and George, Annabelle’s brother, are both allied with Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), whose candidates are running with Noynoy under the Liberal Party.
“Ang ilang away (Their fight) is in the field of showbiz… It will not affect our support for Noynoy. Besides, Kris is not Noynoy and Noynoy is not Kris,” Vice Mayor Rama said.
He said the Ramas, as a clan, have yet to decide on who to endorse for the presidency, but many of them are committed to support the Aquino-Mar Roxas tandem.
In a showbiz program aired in GMA 7 last Sunday, Annabelle lambasted Kris for her bloated ego. She also called on the people not to vote for Noynoy, saying Kris will only get more boastful if her brother is elected president.
The word war stemmed from what Annabelle described as an unfair treatment of her daughter Ruffa by Kris in their program on ABS-CBN.
In TV Patrol last Monday, Kris said Annabelle’s relatives in Cebu are supporters of her mother, former president Corazon Aquino.
Hope for resolution
In a phone interview yesterday, the vice mayor said he hopes Annabelle, Ruffa and Kris will resolve their differences.
“As far as I know, the Rama clan is behind me. Although we did not discuss as a clan kinsay suportahan (who to support) for president, I believe many of us are for Noynoy. Dili lisod na ang mga Rama mu-support ni (The Ramas are inclined to support) Noy and Mar because of history,” he said.
Their journalist uncle, the late Napoleon Rama, was arrested with Sen. Benigno “Nonoy” Aquino Jr. in the early years of Martial Law, and both shared a jail cell.
George, for his part, said his sister’s conflict with Kris will not affect his support for BOPK’s presidential bet.
“We at BOPK are behind Noynoy. My sister’s quarrel with Kris will not diminish our support for him,” he said in Cebuano.
