THE members of the Philippine national team are expected to join the Cebu Executive Runners Club’s (CERC) Mizuno-Asiamiles Sinulog 21K Half Marathon this Saturday at the Asiatown IT Park in Apas, Lahug.
The contest is sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (Patafa).
“Since this race is sanctioned by Patafa, national team runners are sure to come. This includes Crifrankreadel Indapan of Bukidnon who is now a member of the RP team,” said sports columnist and one of the founders of the CERC Raffy Uytiepo during the press conference held at Mooon Café in Guadalupe yesterday.
Uytiepo was joined by Jesse Taborada, the president of CERC, John Pages, Meyrick and Pearl Jacalan of ASAP, race director Edilberto Banzon, Vicky Yue of Cathay Pacific/Asiamile, Nonoy and Amale Jopson of Holiday Gym and Spa, Dodong Sulatre and Dr. Reynald Ramiro.
“We are looking to surpass the 1,300 participats last year and hopefully we can achieve that,” said Jacalan.
Davao City’s Elmer Bartolo, the defending champion in the Men’s Open, has already signed up and will try to keep the title.
Hoping to raise Cebu’s banner is the running queen Liezsl Gitaruelas who is eyeing to join the Hong Kong Marathon. (RCM)
