ADUNAY grupo sa mga runner ang nagtinguhang mo-boycott sa first Pilipinas 25-K International Marathon gumikan kay dungan kining ipahigayon sa 5th Cebu Doctors University Run dinhi sa Sugbo karong Agusto 15.
Sa usa ka informal press conference sa miaging gabii sa Sports Exchange Bar and Grill, nagkanayon si International Pharmaceutical Incorporated (IPI) Advertising manager Tito Dela Merced nga dili nila mabut-an ang maong grupo sa mga runner kon dili kini mangapil sa Pilipinas 25K run.
“Its their own prerogative if they want to stage a boycott,” asoy ni Tito Dela Merced, kinsa mitambong sa presscon kauban sila si Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (PATAFA) Joselito “Joey” Santos ug race director Joe Deresas.
Nangayo og despensa si De la Merced sa panagbangi sa eskedyul sa duha ka mga lumba apan iyang gitataw nga kinahanglan gyud kini nilang ipadayon gumikan kay tipik kini sa ilang kampanya sa pag-promote sa bag-o nilang mga proyekto.
“We really don’t have any intention nga makig-dunggan, we really don’t know,” pasabot ni Dela Merced.

“How come he said that it is non-existent? PATAFA President Go Teng Kok even confirmed with us that it does exist and the 25KM road races for men and women is a standard distance as per IAAF rule. It has even record holders,” pasabot ni Dela Merced.
Ang record holder sa 25K mao ang Kenyans nga sila si Samuel Kiplimo Kosgei (1:11:50) sa men’s division ug Mary Jepkosgei Keitany (1:13:14) sa women samtang ang Asian record holders mao ang mga Japanese nga sila si Takayuki Matsumiya sa (1:13:14) sa men ug Mizuki Noguchi (1:22:13) sa women.
Giklaro sab ni Santos ang kabahin sa pasangil ni Bro. Bacalla nga wala nakapasar sa standard ang Pilipinas 25k International Marathon.
“How can he say that the race is sub-standard when it has not yet even started?”
“Kaya nga I am here to properly measure the route of the race para ma meet talaga nila ang standard measurement ng mga categories nila,” asoy ni Santos.
