Seno wants old match

TEN-year-old Jan Godfrey Seno is calling for a rematch against Christopher Encarnacion as he advances in the quarterfinals of the 12-Under category of the 2010 Milo Junior Tennis Cup-Visayas Edition at the Cebu Country Club.

Seno, who bowed down to Encarnacion in last year’s finals, easily defeated Bohol’s Miguel Logrono, 6-0, 6-1.

“Ive been training hard and hoping to beat Encarnacion this time and earn a slot to the national finals ,” Seno said who encountered several errors on his forehand shots.

Encarnacion, on the other hand, entered the quarterfinals after winning against Mark Suson, 6-1, 6-0.

Winners

The rest of the players in the 12-Under category who made it were Clyde Dujali, after toppling Hugo Vhon Tudtud, 6-0, 6-2; Gener Francis Lambayan, won against Rey Dante Toledo, 6-1, 6-3; Joshua Kinaadman against Norman Enriquez, 6-0,6-1; and Mark Anthony Go, winning against Ludie Karl Balundo, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.

In the 10-Under unisex category, Palawan’s Alexis Santos entered the quarterfinals after she dominated the sand court, overpowering Royen Cabunillas, 6-0, 6-0.

Bernie Blyde Buanghug won against Eulabeth Abarquez, 1-6,6-3,10-4. Mark Suson beat Kevin Balundo, 6-3, 6-0, while Arthur Craig Patino and Gener Francis Lambayan entered the quarterfinals via bye.

Renz Ma advances in the quarterfinals after winning against Mart Camp, 6-3, 6-0, in the 18-Under boys. Israel Abarquez, Joshua David Benday,Amiel Aya-ay, Bernadine Nino Siso and Fritz Satera advanced via bye.

14-Under

In the 14-Under boys, Christopher Encarnacion won against Nico Lorenzo, 6-1, 6-0. Whis Mark Basanal won against Mendez, 6-0,6-1, and Ralph Julian took the next level via bye.

Joe Bautista won against Joseph Acebedo, 6-3,6-2, in the 16-Under boys to qualify for the quarterfinals, while Jionel Troy Pintor defeated Hilbrando Remonde, 6-0,6-2.

Inigo Garcia routed Harvey Sinculan, 6-2,3-6,10-5, while Nino Ritz Remonde blanked Charles Albano, 6-0, 6-0.

In the 16-Under girls, Elgy Dasian won against Jeryan Campo, 6-2, 6-3.

In the 12-Under girls, Alexis Santos, Shyne Villareal, Jane Pages and Zethley Mae Alferez advanced to the quarterfinals via bye.

According to Milo events coordinator East Visayas Stephanie Villa, around 120 junior netters has participated in this year’s tournament.

“This is the first time we have the tournament held during summer. It is usually every September. With this, we can give the national winners ample time to prepare themselves for Malaysia,” said Villa who said the 2010 Malaysia Northern States Junior International Tennis Championship will be on November to December.
