PREPAID subscribers of wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) no longer need to worry about running out of load credit especially during emergency situations.
The telco leader launched Dial *SOS’ (*767), a service which enables Smart Buddy subscribers with zero load to “borrow” P4 valid for 24 hours from time of availment.

The subscriber has the option to use the emergency load to send four SMS to any number within the Smart network or send only three SMS and keep the remaining one-peso load as maintaining balance in order to continue using any previously availed call or text package, such as AllTxt or Smartalk, among others.
Peace of mind
Danilo Mojica, head of Smart’s Wireless Consumer Division, said: “Even with over a million Smart Load retailers in every corner of the country, there are still people that find themselves running out of load for a variety of reasons. This new service will provide peace of mind to our prepaid subscribers since there is now the assurance that when they do need to top up, especially when they simply have no means of accessing airtime load, they can rely on Smart to allow them to still stay connected.”
To avail themselves of the service, Smart subscribers with zero load simply need to dial *767 to receive the P4 load. This amount will be deducted from the subscriber’s next load purchase.
As an added service feature, subscribers who avail themselves of the emergency load service will receive an SMS advisory confirming that they have successfully loaded P4 to their prepaid account.
The next time the subscriber loads phone credits, another advisory will be sent as a reminder of the availed service and to explain the P4 deduction from the new load balance.
Smart has 45.3 million mobile subscribers as of June 2010. Of the number, 90 percent are prepaid users. (PR)
