CCSC oval repairs ahead of schedule
Friday, December 9, 2011
THE old rubber track of the Cebu City Sports Center (CCMC) has been fully scraped and from its debris, will rise a new rubberized oval.
“The old rubber has been removed and the civil works are almost done,” said CCSC manager Ricky Ballesteros. The triple jump area has been transferred to the D-section of the oval, giving way to a bigger space, which is enough to make a volleyball court.

The grass on half of the football field has already been placed as well. Aside from this, the materials and chemicals for the rubber arrived last Thursday night.
After the rubber has been removed, they found out that the cement base and the drainage are still in good shape.
“The civil works will be finished ahead of schedule because not a lot of work is needed for the base and the drainage,” said Ballesteros.
Ballesteros said everything will be ready for the all-important lay-out of the rubber this December.
However, even if it finishes this month, work on the rubber will have to wait until after the Sinulog festivities.
The reason why only half of the football field has been planted with grass is because the other half will hold the stage for the Sinulog celebration.
The Sinulog is set on Jan. 15.
Aside from the oval, also being worked on is the fencing of the oval and the area near the gate, which are all expected to finish this month as well.
