WHY Manny Pacquiao talked to him boggles the mind.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn’t worth our while, much more if you are Pacquiao.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

He has libeled Pacquiao, telling the world Pacquiao uses drugs and steroids for power and body bulk.

Then, even as he faced oral defamation charges hurled him by Pacquiao, Mayweather went
on a racism-laden rampage against the Filipino boxing icon.

The American braggart never apologized for his misdeeds, deemed as the ultimate in boorishness, uncouth behavior.

It is almost conduct unbecoming a supposed boxing legend, whose record of 42 straight wins for a 42 and 0 mark is the sport’s all-time best.

Amid all this Pacquiao-bashing from the man the Filipino has dislodged as pound-for-pound king, we never heard Pacquiao complain.

He would let the court decide on whether or not Mayweather had badmouthed him through that libel case he had filed in 2010 that remains unresolved in Las Vegas.

Amid all this Pacquiao-belittling, Pacquiao would still want to fight Mayweather.

In fact, when Mayweather called up Pacquiao, the Filipino legend obliged.

While others might have opted to ignore Mayweather’s call, not Pacquiao, though.

Like the true gentleman that he is, Pacquiao talked to Mayweather and acceded to talking about their planned fight for 2012.

Like the true lawmaker that he is, Pacquiao told his aides to put Mayweather on the line.

He showed great composure, was cool as a cat during all the time that he was talking to Mayweather, known more for trash-talking than decent communicating.

Pacquiao even exhorted Mayweather to sign the contract stipulating a 50-50 split of the purse.

But to this, Mayweather scowled, howled and bawled like a child robbed of his lollipop.

There was no official word to it, but if earlier Mayweather pronouncements are to be believed, he wants a 60-40 purse split in his favor.

So, as was the prediction of the experts, the talks fell through yet again.

No Pacquiao-Mayweather fight in May, in June—and, possibly, not even this year
Fine by me. I’ve never liked the fight to push through, anyway.

It will just be The Fix of The Century.
