NCFP to appoint Visayas heads
Monday, January 30, 2012
THE National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) is set to appoint regional coordinators to give its members easy access to information, communication and facilitation of requests.
This came at the heels of its recent circular letter to have all chess players, clubs and association register with the Philippine chess governing body.

“In our recent communications, NCFP is set to appoint me and Felix (Poloyapoy) as regional coordinators. This will give easy access to the chess-playing community in Central Visayas,” Fide Arbiter and National Master Roger Abella told Sun.Star Cebu.
Abella is the tournament organizer for the Cebu Chess Association. Poloyapoy, who is also a Fide arbiter, is the coach of the University of San Carlos-Basic Education Department chess teams. According to Abella, CCA president Boojie Lim welcomed the new rules and regulations of the NCFP since these are aimed to lift up the quality of chess players in the country.
“CCA has no objection; in fact Boojie was happy with this because everything will now be official and all tournaments will get sanctions from NCFP, making it easier for the players to have their ratings updated regularly,” Abella added.
