CEC blasts USJ-R hopes

THE Cebu Eastern College (CEC) spoiled the opening day of defending 16-Under champions University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) with a 52-41 rout over the weekend at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Gen. Maxilom Ave. Campus Gym in the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL) ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup.

CEC took an early 19-11 lead after the first quarter, then the lead slowly ballooned to 34-21 at halftime until it was a one-sided affair at the end of regulation.

In the 13-Under category, Southwestern University defeated SHS-AdC B in a 47-23 blowout.

Defending 10-Under champions University (USC) of San Carlos North edged out SHS-AdC, 22-19, while sister squad USC South also beat CEC, 19-16, in the same division.

Meanwhile, in the Division B games, CVIRAA GS destroyed NISSI Academy 57-40 in the 16-Under age class, while US South-B trampled over St. Paul, 34-18.
