IM Sevillano scores big

US-BASED Cebuano International chess master Enrico Sevillano scored another major win in America after winning the 15th Metropolitan Chess Fide Invitational tournament that was held Jan. 26-30 in California Market Center in Los Angeles.
Sevillano (2490), who was also the top seed in the tournament, topped the tournament organized by Ankit Gupta and participated by 10 invited players from the US and the Europe.

The Cebuano IM scored a total of 7.5 points in the grueling single round robin tournament.
Sevillano, who won the USA Open tournament in 2008, finished the nine-round event with six wins, no loss and three draws.
Aside from Sevillano, the other players who were picked to join the tournament were IM Zhanibek Amanov of Kazakhstan (2402), IM Andranik Matikozyan of Armenia (2414), FM Harutyan Akopyan of USA (2279), FM Mark Duckworth also of USA (2313), FM Konstantin
Kavutskiy also of USA (2315), Vadim Kudryavtsev of Russia (2151), Garush Manukyan of
Armenia and American NM Craig Clawitter (2082).
The only non-international master who was able to hold IM Sevillano to a draw was FM Kavutskiy, while the other two IMs settled for a draw with the Cebuano master.
