Saturday, February 4, 2012
THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles drew first blood, 68-51, against archrivals Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons in Game 1 of the best-of-3 championship series for the SeaOil-NBTC Elite League Cebu Championship held at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym yesterday.
The Eagles’ searing defense held the Dragons to just four points in the third quarter, leading to their easy win.

The Eagles started dominating the game at the onset and built a six-point lead, 21-15, at the end of the first quarter.
However, the Dragons did not just roll over and hand the game easily to the Eagles as they fought back hard and outscored SHS-AdC, 16-11, for a close 32-31 score at the halftime break.
But that was the best CEC could do as it succumbed to the pressure game of the Eagles, who launched an 18-4 binge in the third quarter to win and are now just a win away from clinching a spot in the national finals.
Henry Asilum finally broke his silence as he scored 15 points to lead the victorious Eagles, while Maverick Suarez and Patrick Go had 14 and 13 points, respectively.
