Two Cebuanos rule Singapore blitz chess

CEBUANO National Master Eric Gloria scored an impressive 8.5 points in nine games to top the 1st Intchess Fide Blitz tournament in Singapore last Wednesday.
While Gloria (2349) topped the event with eight wins and one draw, another Cebuano player, Lincoln Yap (2107), shared the second and third places with WIM Zhansaya Abdulmalik of Kazakhstan (2119) after both players finished with 6.5 points.

But Yap’s 50.5 tie break points over Abdulmalik’s 49.5 earned him the second place in the final rankings.
Gloria, who was the top seed in the tournament participated by 22 players defeated Aadhavan Anna of Singapore, Jung Young Hoon of Korea, Abdullah Iskandar of Singapore, Abdulmalik, Yap, Timothy Jin Sheng Ling of Singapore, Daniel King-Waie Lam of Hongkong and Cyrus Zhen Yu Low of Singapore.
His lone draw was against Han Shaun Yong of Singapore.
Yap beat Carlito Andres Jr., WIM Lay Shwe Tin of Myanmar, Lam, Abdulmalik and Ling drew with Yong. He also lost to Gloria and Jung.
