SCSIT wins Sinulog softball

DESIGNATED hitter Marvin Ngujo went three-of-three and had one run-batted-in (RBI) to help Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute Technology (SCSIT) Blazing Batters defend their title with a 7-3 win over Wirednook for the 2012 Sinulog Cup Men’s Open Softball title last Sunday at the Labangon Elementary School grounds.
The much-improved Buhisan IX capped its Cinderella run with an 8-2 win over Landing-Lilo-an to win third place.

SCSIT, which schooled Buhisan in the semifinal round, went out strong as early as the first inning, scoring three runs to nil and never looked back until the game was stopped at the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Blazing Batters had three RBIs at its turn at bat on the first inning, after catcher Roldan Bacarisas was taken out by the Wirednook defense.
Third baseman Sherwin Tabar sent short-stop Rolly Bacarisas home with a single-base hit, then designated hitter (DH) Marvin Ngujo sent Tabar to the homeplate with a triple and centerfielder Jackson Genolaga sent Ngujo home with a double.
