SHS Eagles sweep CEC

THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles made sure its bitter rivals Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons would do no more damage as they won the 2012 SeaOil-NBTC Elite League Cebu Finals after sweeping the best-of-three championship
series 2-0 last Sunday evening at the City Sports Club Cebu.
SHS-AdC defeated CEC, 97-75, in Game 2 to take the Cebu slot to the National Finals on March 2-4 at the PhilSports Arena and Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City in Metro Manila.

Julius Cadavis again led the Eagles to victory as the behemoth 6’4” center scored 26 points, while Maverick Suarez added 14 and Rendell Senining contributed 12.
Cadavis was also named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
As usual, SHS-AdC jumped to a good start, leading 32-24, at the end of the first quarter and maintaining a six-point lead, 51-45, at the break.
Then the Eagles displayed its might in the third quarter, outscoring the Dragons, 29-18 to build up an 80-63 lead entering the final quarter.
CEC tried to spark life back into the team in the fourth, but the Eagles never lost a step to march to the national finals.
Alfred Sedillo topscored for CEC with 17 points, Alviso added 15 and Lyle Sumayang scored only nine points.
SHS-AdC will join the champion teams from the National Capital Region, Baguio, La Union, Tarlac, Olongapo, Batangas, Cavite, Lucena, Naga, Bacolod, Iloilo, Ormoc, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Iligan, and Zamboanga in the hunt for the national title.
