CCC looks to improve in PAL Interclub

THIS year will be a good chance for the Cebu Country Club men’s regular team to capture the title in the championship division of the 65th Philippine Airlines (PAL) Interclub at the Rancho Palos Verdes and Apo Golf Country Club in Davao City on Feb. 15 as they will be playing on a neutral course.
Aside from this, Team Canlubag, which shared second place with CCC last year, will not be sending a team after its players jumped to the professional ranks.
These will minimize hurdles for CCC on their way to winning the title.
CCC will be missing one of their best players, Charlie Hong, who is now playing professional golf.
However, the team is still confident that they can still perform well.
“(Defending champion) Del Monte had a home course advantage last year. Davao is a neutral ground for us. Although Del Monte will field a strong lineup, I still believe we will have a good chance of winning this year,” CCC’s Jovi Neri told Sun.Star Cebu in a phone interview.
The regular men’s team is composed of captain Montito Garcia, Bayani Garcia, Jovi Neri, Carl Almario, Eric Deen, Marko Sarmiento, Mark Dy, Gen Nagai Ly and Gio Gadionco.
Seniors squad
The Bukidnon-based defending champions will be parading basically the same team that won in Cagayan de Oro last year.
Meanwhile, CCC’s seniors division team is also aiming to improve its second place finish in the foundation division.
The seniors’ team is composed of Montito Garcia, Nonoy Tirol, Koichi Hiorii, Lorenzo Alaan, Anton Florendo, Masatsugo Ocha-I and Shigeo Siato.
