Mike joins USPF run-A A +A

CEBU City mayor Michael Rama is extending his full support to the inaugural University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Alumni Fun Run this Saturday at the USPF grounds.
The mayor, a USP alumnus, will be running in the 6K category of the race, which also has the 12K and the 3K.
An avid supporter of local races, this is not the first time Mayor Rama will be joining a run but this will be extra special as he will run for his former alma mater.
“We should always not forget our roots,” said Rama.
The run will also have a strong attendance of almost 1,500 USP students plus balikbayans who went home for the alumni homecoming.
Organizers are expecting to have more than 2,000 runners to join the event, which is a good turnout since there will be a Love Run on Saturday afternoon and the SM2SM run on Sunday.
“It really depends on the runners because some chose to run in our event to warm up for the race next day, while some chose to rest,” said Charles Vailoces of USP.
Though they admitted they were affected by the other runs, organizers are not worried because they will make it an annual event.
“It’s okay. This is our first time and we will do this every year,” said Vailoces.
The proceeds of the run will go the alumni foundation for their student scholarship program.
