THE Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) basketball champions University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters and the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers will be joined by three Cebuano basketball officials in the 64th National Student Basketball Championships (NSBC) in Dagupan City on Feb. 27 to March 3.
Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) secretary-general Graham Lim named BAP-7 regional commissioner Jose “Boy” Murillo as technical officer of the event and also named Alejandro Briso and Judy Olasiman as referees.

Lim met with Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy Jr. and UC team manager Baldomero Estenzo in his recent visit in Cebu to confirm the participation of the Cebu-based squads.
However, aside from the Webmasters, BAP is yet to receive a confirmation from UV of its participation in the annual inter-school competition.
UC is among the 12 collegiate teams that will be shooting for the inter-collegiate title, while UV will be one of the six teams competing for the secondary title.
UC won the collegiate title in 2009, earning the right to represent the country in the Summer Universiade last year in Shenzhen, China while the Baby Lancers’ last title was won back in 2000 in Roxas City.
The prize of winning the college title this year is a slot to the 9th Asian University Basketball Championships (AUBC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June.
In 2006 Cebu City hosted the 6th AUBC at the Cebu Coliseum and Chinese team Huaqiao University won the title.
