Kenyans from Manila join SM2SM run

VISITING Kenyans from Manila will gun for the top prizes in the cash-rich SM2SM Run this Sunday at the Northwing of SM City Cebu.

James Mibei, Richard Chelimo and David Kipsang are expected to figure prominently against the local runners in the half-marathon category, which offers P30,000 to the champion.

Also competing in the 12K category are Kenyans Douglas Mwiti and Abaraham Missos, who will be competing for the P10,000 prize money.

Cebu’s Mary Joy Tabal will try to end her hiatus as she returns to the 21K division after taking a break to heal her knee injury.

Almost P220,000 in cash prizes will go the top 10 finishers of the 21K, 12K and 6K categories, while special prizes like an overnight stay at Radisson Blu and SM gift checks will be given to the winning pair in the couple’s category.

The SM2SM run, which is organized by the Run For Sight Foundation, has attracted almost 4,500 runners with 1,000 in the 21K and 800 in the 12K.

All runners will be treated to a Jollibee Burger Steak meal after the race, while the 21K and 12K finishers will also receive loot bags and medals.

A Sony Bravia 32-inch LCD television will also be raffled off after the race and participants should be present to claim the prize.
