Talisay to hold triathlon event in March

WITH its aim to encourage the people from Talisay to get into the sport, Talisay City will stage its first Talisay Triathlon set on March 25 at the new Talisay fish port in Barangay Tangke.

They are expecting to attract more than 100 triathletes to join the race. They are also expecting athletes from Bacolod, Bohol, Negros, Manila, Dumaguete and from the Province of Cebu.

“We are also expecting Senator Pia Cayetano to join the race,” organizer Hazel Busa said.

She added that they have decided along with the Talisay City Sports Commission to hold a triathlon competition because they believe Talisay has the facilities to support the race.

This will be the first time Talisay hosts a triathlon competition.

“We are hoping that our local athletes can prepare. We are also putting up a kids triathlon age group because we have seen a lot of potential from among our kids,” Busa said.

The race features a 1,000-meter swim, 30-kilometer bike, 7.5m run for the adult and mixed relay division, while a 300-meter swim, 8K bike and 3K run will be the distances for the kids division.

Registration fee is pegged at P1,000 per person.

The registration areas are at the Talisay City Sports Commission office, Runnr in Ayala Center-Cebu and Vicky’s Marketing-Manalili, Tabunok and Naga branches.
