Cyclomax motocross hits Mandaue

CEBU’S top rider Jon-Jon Adlawan and the rest of the Cebuano Motocross aces will get a tough challenge as the Keiz BJ-Phoenix Cyclomax Titan 2011-2012 Season Round 5 Motocross Competition will rev up this Sunday in Upper Pagsabungan, Mandaue City.

Race organizer Seigfred Ornopia is proud to bring the event, which he described as the first in the city since a national motocross race was held at the Mandaue City Reclamation Area in 2004.

“It has been years since we had a motocross race in Mandaue City. Motocross races have been held outside of the metro. It is a dream come true since we finally have a tournament that will be inside Mandaue City,” Ornopia said at the press conference held at the Family Choice Restaurant yesterday.

Ornopia’s views were shared by his sponsors Geoffrey Viñalon of Phoenix Petroleum Phils. and Edmud Pingkian of Haojue Motors and race director Romeo Ouano.

Phoenix has been Keiz BJ’s partner since its third race and will continue supporting the race throughout the year.Ornopia is expecting to draw more than a hundred riders this Sunday with the country’s no.2 rider Dondon Yuzon, Winsor Pamorca and Dumaguete City based Fil-Am rider Scott Remi expected to give the Cebuano bets some tough times.

Aside from Adlawan, veteran Pepo Rubi, brothers Juvenil and Jovanni Abellar, Cyril Tariman and Jan-Jan Baluyos are expected to make the Expert Class an exciting contest.

The riders are already practicing on the race-track designed and built by Ornopia himself, which is highlighted by a 48- step finish line.

Aside from the Expert Class, the young and upcoming, the old-timers and the local motor-cycle for hire (Habal-habal) will also give delight to the spectators.

Peewee, Mini 65cc and 85cc categories for the young riders, the Wanggits C for the riders who wanted to defy age and the Habal-Habal Selection Limited Edition for the local (Pagsabungan) habal-habal drivers will also be contested.

Ornopia is also raffling a motorcycle while Phoenix will be selling motor oils for a discounted price.
