THE Philippine Lady Volcanoes blanked Laos, 55-0, to remain in Division 2 of the Asian Rugby Football Union 4 Nations Rugby Championships last Saturday in Laguna.
The Ladies regrouped and bounced back from the heartbreak loss against Thailand, 50-15, in the preliminary match-up last Wednesday, knowing they had to win to stay in Division 2 of the Women’s Asian 4 Nations.
“The win put us in a good position for the women’s rugby world cup qualifying rounds for next year. Had we lost to Laos, not only would we have to bid goodbye to the Cup but we would have been relegated to Division 3 next year,” said Beekay Delos Santos.
Captain Ada Milby started the scoring feast after she got the first try and Cebu’s Auimi Ono nailed another try from an Acee San Juan pass and doubled the lead to 12-0.
Meanwhile, Singapore triumphed over Thailand, 21-19, to win the Women’s A4N Division 2 finals.
