MANILA - Petron Blaze and Barangay Ginebra, who won their first game in the semifinal round, part ways today when they collide while Rain or Shine tries to bounce back in the 37th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Petron and Ginebra, which finished the single round elimination with identical 5-4 slates, are tied at the third to fourth spots following their wins in the first day of the single round semifinal round.
The Blaze Boosters leaned on Arwind Santos and Joseph Yeo’s steady performance to beat solo leader Rain or Shine, 90-88, while Kerby Raymundo posted a double-double performance with 16 points and 13 rebounds, four assists to lead Ginebra over Meralco, 89-76, to inch closer to the second spot now being held by B-Meg Llamados (6-3).
“Our new import was able to help us even without practice and I have very high hopes,” said Petron coach Ato Agustin referring to Marcus Faison, who just came a day before the game to replace the injured Eddie Basden.
