CEBUANO giant Junemar Fajardo will join the PBA Rookie Draft on Aug. 19 in Robinson’s Midtown Mall in Manila, ending months of speculation regarding his entry to the country’s premier basketball league, after a stint with San Miguel Beer in the Asean Basketball League (ABL).
The 6’10” former University of Cebu (UC) Webmaster is set to submit his application to the PBA office this week after Petron Blaze Boosters acquired the no.1 pick overall.
During the draft lottery held last Sunday, Air21 got the right to pick the best talent in the draft.
However, an earlier deal – that includes the trade between Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Rey Guevarra and Nonoy Baclao for Dondon Hontiveros, Dorian Peña, Danny Seigle and Paul Artadi—gave Air21’s right to pick the no.1 overall to Petron.
UC’s team manager and Fajardo’s legal adviser Baldomero Estenzo earlier confirmed Fajardo’s intention to join the draft following the announcement of the draft lottery.
Aside from the No.1 pick, Petron also got the right to the third pick from from Barako Bull while Alaska Aces got the second pick.
