Kiptanui wins 2nd straight race

KENYAN Joshphat Kiptanui and Mary Grace Delos Santos ruled the 5th Red Cross Humanity Race yesterday at the Sumilon Road Business Park.
Kiptanui secured his second title for this weekend after winning the St. Ignatius Run 10-miler race last Saturday, while Delos Santos bounced back from her runner-up finish in the same event.
It was a neck-and-neck match against Noel Tillor with only 22 seconds separating them. Kiptanui finished in 56:03, while Tillor got to the finish line in 56:25 for second place. Alvirg Busa got third place in 56:44.
In the distaff side, Delos Santos cruised to a first place finish with a time of 1:13:52 against Madelyn Carter (1:17:21). Joeyry Lee settled for third place in 1:17:41.
Abraham Missos landed in first place of the men’s 8K open with 26:35, besting John Manos (26:44) and Prince Lee (26:51).
Mary Joy Tabal, who joined the 8K after last Saturday’s 16K, finished first in 30:23 for her second straight title. Tabal beat sisters Lovely (33:31) and Jhean (33:39) Andrin.
Meanwhile, Kenneth Nier and Cherry Andrin prevailed in the 4K category for kids aged 12 years and below.
The top finishers in the 16K pocketed P5,000 and a medal while the 8K leaders received P3,000 each and a medal.
