Mier tops Cebu Cycling Classic ITT

ONE of country’s top cyclists John Renee Mier topped yesterday’s Individual Time Trial (ITT) of the Cebu Challenge Cycling Classic at the South Road Properties.
He will be donning the yellow jersey in today’s second stage at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds.
Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Mier, who hails from Cebu, was recently awarded as the best young rider of the 2012 LBC Ronda Pilipinas.
The 20-year-old Mier under team LBC Team A finished in four minutes and 53.98 seconds.
“This will be a tough four-day race but I am confident that my team can pull it off,” Mier said.
LPG American Vinyl Manila's Rudy Roque secured the second spot after crossing the finish line in 4:57.59 followed by Dolors Minimart/Dans Bike/Team Danao skipper Niño Surban for the third spot with 4:59.32.
Completing the Top 10 individual racers were LPG American Vinyl Manila's team captain Irish Valenzuela (5:00.61); Rustom Lim (5:02.32); Mark Bonzo of LBC Team A (5:03.19); International cyclist Arnel Quirimit (5:05.32); Cebu Province’s Marvin Tapic (5:05.78); Ramon Espinosa of Dolors Minimart Danao (5:07.19); and Raemon Lapza of Cycle Line Extreme Butuan (5:10.19)
Today, the race starts at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds and will finish in Bogo City.
