Sibonga bags title in Bacaltos Invitational

THE Landing Boys of Lilo-an made sure its hard work and long hours of travel from home to Sibonga won’t be put to waste as they won the Sibonga Mayor Lionil Bacaltos Softball Invitational 2012 title yesterday.

Landing left for a two-hour ride from home to Sibonga for the much-awaited championship game, without knowing who will they face in the knockout championship.

Local barangay team Guimbanko-an and Chai-Chai team from the neighboring Carcar City were still batting out for the second final spot when they reached the venue.

While Lilo-an waited, Chai-Chai battled for an hour as they survived the reinforced Guimbanko-an, 3-2, to get the chance for a shot at the title.

However, the tired and weary Perrelos-Carcar City-based Chai-Chai squad had little gas left for the finals, which lasted only two innings after Sibonga pulled away 11-4 for the regulation win.

For winning the two-month long tournament, Lilo-an was rewarded the championship prize of P10,000 and a trophy. Chai-Chai pocketed P8,000.
