RUN for Sight Chairman Doctor Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III is appealing to runners to take part in the Night Race for the Flood Victims this Saturday at 8 pm, at the Cebu Doctors University Grounds.
Although left with only a week to prepare, Larrazabal said that all is set for the event which also drew support from individuals and groups who shouldered the t-shirts, hydration and snacks of runners.
The first 200 registrants will receive a souvenir shirt provided by Neil and Mia Carcel and Ken Tan and Ann Loo, while Leona and Pocari will give the runner’s
refreshments.
Larrazabal emphasized that runner’s safety will be an outmost priority despite the route passing only a private road.
Aside from technical director Joel Baring’s technical staff, volunteers from React will also assist in manning and securing the route.
Runners can bring their headlights but the route will be lighted up by Dakay Construction.
Registration is P300 for both 3K and 6K categories and runners can still sign up at Run for Sight Headquarters at CDUH. Organizers will also welcome walk-in participants an hour before the race.
“This will be worth the sacrifice for those joining even if it’s night time because it’s all for a good cause,” said Larrazabal.
A turnover of proceeds to the Luzon flood victims will follow right away after the benefit run with the presence Leo Lastimosa, who will represent the ABS-CBN Kapamilya Foundation.
The best finishers in each category will be awarded with gift certificates but no cash prizes will be given.
“We try to minimize the cost to maximize the results,” Larrazabal added.
This is Larrazabal’s third fund-raising run after the Run for Ondoy and Run for Guinsaugon.
