THE Kenyans did it again, this time sweeping the top awards in the Value Charity Make a Change Run yesterday at Parkmall.
Joshphat Kiptanui survived the challenge of compatriot Douglas Mwiti as he ruled the 21K men’s open in 1:11:37. Mwiti was a close second in 1:12:21, while Francis Kakui got third place in 1:16:51.
These will serve as the Kenyans’ tune-up run as they race in the first Bohol Marathon next week.
In the women’s side, Mary Jane Beboso took advantage of the absence of top runners to win the 21K in 1:47:37, finishing almost six minutes ahead of Preciousa Sanchez (1:53:13). Emeralda Hermosilla got third place.
Both Kiptanui and Beboso took home P4,000 cash award each.
Abraham Missos, who opted to run in the shorter distances, cruised to another win in the men’s 12K open. He crossed the finish line in 40:59, while Riez Enriquez (42:64) and Robert Daang (43:42) got second and third places, respectively.
Lovely Andrin prevailed against her sister Jhean in the women’s 12K open in 52:20. Jhean got second place in 56:35, while Yasmine Dior settled for third place in 1:07:44.
The other winners were Cherry Andrin and Jorry Ycong in the 6K open and Josephine Rubi and Julius Kinaadman in the 3K fun run.
