DEFENDING champion Southwestern University (SWU) and University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) kept their unbeaten run to share the lead in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. women’s volleyball tournament at the University of San Carlos (USC) Gym.
SWU pummeled the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU), 25-12, 25-12, 25-14, while USJ-R outlasted the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 23-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-22.
Both teams have three wins and nine points under the FIVB point system the league is adopting.
“Cesafi decided to use the new FIVB points system to minimize the triple ties,” Cesafi official Kenn Marzado said.
A three-set and four-set win is equivalent to three points, while a five-set win is worth two points.
In the men’s division, USPF routed CDU, 25-12, 25-9, 25-12 for their fourth win and improved to 12 points in the standings.
USJ-R, which beat the Cebu Institute of Technology-University, 25-10, 25-18, 25-15, is second with 11 points, while USC, a 25-22, 25-23, 26-24 winner over the University of the Visayas (UV), is second with eight points.
SWU beat the University of Cebu, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19, to take fourth place with six points.
