Azkals miss chances-A A +A

THE Philippine Azkals started their friendly series with 0-0 draw against host Cambodia yesterday.
The men’s football national team failed to convert too many of their chances to goals in what could have been a good start to their friendly game series.
Despite a deadlock result in the first half, the Azkals had better chances against the Cambodians.
In the 20th, Phil Younghusband’s attempt to make use of Jerry Lucena’s free kick went wide and his pass to brother James in the 23rd minute also did not make it.
Jason Sabio’s header was also denied twice, one hit the post while the other went
In the 33rd, Phil who was caught behind the ball from James’s free kick made an attempt ,but never got inside the goal.
Chieffy Caligdong almost threatened the Cambodians with a long range shot before closing the first half but it went wide.
Azkals tried to make a run in the sixth minute added time to score a goal but were unsuccessful leaving a scoreless first half.
Substitutions were made in the second half with Jason De Jong for Rob Gier, Patrick Reichelt for Jerry Lucena, Dennis Wolf for Phil, Anto for James and OJ Porteria for Paul Mulders.
Cambodia had a good chance in the 48th minute but Neil Etheridge was quick to collect.
Wolf made his presence felt in the second half with successive attacks but they were intercepted and went high.
Riechelt made an attempt in the 80th minute but still to no avail and the Azkals never scored until the end of regulation.
The Azkals who played not under the best pitch conditions with the heavy downpour in the stadium will try to bounce back as they play Singapore this Friday.
