IN CELEBRATION of its 90th anniversary, the Cebu Puericulture Center and Maternity House Inc will stage the Maternity Run on Sept. 29 starting in front of the hospital in B . Rodriguez Ave.
It will serve as the culminating activity of the institution’s weeklong anniversary that will start on Sept. 23. Its mother club, Cebu Women’s Club (CWC), will be celebrating its centennial anniversary.
“We have been independent from CWC but they are still in support of our programs,” said Medical Director Dr. Raida Varona.
There will be a 10K and 3K open category and a special 1-kilometer walk for pregnant and menopausal women.
The 1K route will take the women from B. Rodriguez Ave. to Fuente Circle going to Gen. MAxilom Ave. with its turning point in front of Saint Theresa’s College.
All runners in the 3K will have their turning point in front of Colegio de Inmaculada Concepcion while the 10K runners will be at The Gallery in Mabolo.
The group also decided to include a separate 10K category for those born and delivered in the Cebu Maternity Hospital to make their anniversary more significant.
Only the top five finishers in the 10K will receive cash prizes and the top three winners in the 3K will receive medals.
“Since this is not a competitive run, we don’t prioritize on giving the cash prizes but only medals to recognize winners,” said Dr. Humility Igaña.
Proceeds of the run will go to the hospital’s charity program, which caters to indigent mothers.
The registration is P250 for all categories inclusive of singlet. Registration sites are at Cebu Maternity Hospital Lobby from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and at Runnr Ayala from Sept. 15-26.
