THE local community has two running events to look forward to this weekend, one in the city and the other in the outskirts of the city.
Run for Community Empowerment hosted by Bag-ong Sugbo Foundation Inc., in partnership with Abante Barangay Movement and Urban Poor Alliance, will be launched today at the Fuente Osmeña Circle.
The 10K, 5K and 3K categories are aimed to sustain the group’s activities such as the Himsog nga Barangay Advocacy, Barangay IT program and community enterprise development.
Organizers are appealing to the urban poor communities, students and running communities to take part in the event.
Meanwhile, the seventh edition of the Columbia Eco Trail Run will be this Sunday and it will return to the municipality of Liloan for another 14K trail challenge in the mountain barangay of Cabadiangan.
With a more challenging route this time, technical directors Ralph Pilapil and Larry Honoridez have assured the runners that there won’t be a repeat of the Carmen leg fiasco, which left many runners lost in the trails.
