DEFENDING high school champions Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) continued to be on top form as it defeated the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), 2-0, yesterday in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) football tournament at the Cebu City Sports Complex.
Nil Ryan Bono squeezed in a quick goal with just five minutes off the clock for an early 1-0 lead for DBTC.
Vincent Lovitos widened the gap with a goal in the 44th minute of regulation. Lovitos chipped in the ball with ease from the right flank after a well-calculated cross pass.
Lovitos and Reimen Bonghanoy almost made it a one sided affair but both of their strikes failed to hit the target.
DBTC had the more fluid offense and had most of the ball possession in the second half.
Prolific USPF striker Christian Mellibo had a good look that could have narrowed down the deficit but his shot was off.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) overwhelmed the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), 12-0, in the other match yesterday afternoon.
Andrew Pelicano and Karlo Villamor both scored a hat trick for SHS-AdC, which captured its first win this season.
