Ultra runners back maternity run

ULTRA runners will lead the pregnant moms in the 1st Maternity Run in front of a hospital along B. Rodriguez Avenue today.
All-Women 50K Ultra Run finishers Haide Acuña and Margarette Jaranilla will take a break from their favorite long-distance route and will be part of the 1-kilometer pregnant and menopausal category.
Other categories are the 3K and 10K open and an exclusive 10K category for those born at the the Cebu Maternity Hospital.
The separate category will require interested participants to present their birth certificates to prove their claim.
The running event is the culminating activity of the hospital’s week-long 90th celebration. It was founded in 1922 by the Cebu Women’s Club and became independent in 1973.
A total of 500 runners have already signed and the proceeds will be donated to the hospital charity patients.
The race will take runners to Gen. Maxilom Avenue and Gorordo Avenue all the way to Salinas Drive, Lahug and San Jose Dela Montaña Avenue.
