PROMISING young boxer Albert Pagara will finally be tested if he is indeed the real deal as he trades leathers with tough journeyman Marvin Tampus on Sept. 28 in Balamban, Cebu.
Pagara has so far shown signs of promise, demolishing anyone placed in front of him since his debut last year. However, his promoter, ALA Promotions, wants to know if he is ready for the next step in his career.
“It will be a good test for Albert to see if he is ready to go to the next step,” said Aldeguer.
Pagara, once an amateur standout, has won all of his 12 fights, with nine wins by knockout. The 28-year-old Tampus, on the other hand, had some rough patches in his career and wants to get his career back on track with a win over an unbeaten promising young fighter. Tampus is 27-15-2 with 18 knockouts.
In the undercard, Mhar Jhun Macahilig (15-2, 9 KOs) takes on Gerpaul “TI Yamagata” Valero (11-13, 7 KOs); Mark Bernaldez (6-0, 4 KOs) puts his unbeaten slate on the line against Ranie Pamatian (6-12, 1 KO); Jun Intor (20-10-7, 7 KOs) showcases his comedic ring antics against undefeated John Rey Lontiong (2-0, 1 KO); unbeaten Roma Rate (8-0-1, 6 KOs) faces off with Sherwin Caday (2-4-1); and Crispin Parba (2-6, 1 KO) locks horns with Jeffrey Segara (3-3-1, 2 KOs).
The event also showed a sparring exhibition between Jason Pagara and Jimrex Jaca. The older Pagara is preparing for his WBO International light welterweight title defense against Miguel Antoine on Oct. 20 in Manila. (EKA)
