Silvano to defend PBF belt in Dalaguete-A A +A

VERGILIO Silvano will defend his Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) light flyweight crown for the first time this Saturday against Lester Jun Pronco in front of a hometown at the Dalaguete Sports Complex.
The 22-year-old prospect of the Omega Boxing Gym of Cebu City is gunning for his 12th straight win. Silvano was impressive in his last fight, stopping journeyman Charlie Cabilla in the fourth last July to wrest the vacant PBF crown.
Pronco, on the other, hand won his last bout against Buhay Bokisngero semifinalist Gilbert Magos, after two straight losses.
Silvano is 12-2-1 with seven knockouts, while Pronco is 3-3, with two knockouts.
Heavy-handed Jason Canoy (15-3-1, 10 KOs) takes on journeyman Jetly Purisima (15-12-2, 3 KOs) in the main supporting bout.
In the undercard, Jhaleel Payao (4-0, 2 KOs) locks horns with experienced Mating Kilakil (15-10-4, 6 KOs); Ernie Sanchez (13-3, 5 KOs) trades leathers with tough Eman Labanza (8-12, 1 KO) in a rematch; Jack Tepora (4-0, 3 KOs) hopes to keep his unbeaten streak against Buhay Boksingero finalist Rommel Banquerigo (4-3-3, 1 KO); Charlie Pucdol (3-0, 3 KOs) faces off with Ryan Quimbo (2-3-1); Jordan Catubay (2-1-1, 1 KO) is up against Juvel Gayhon (0-1); Jay Molijon makes his ring debut against Abel Gaybon (0-1); and Kenan Villaflor (1-0) slugs it out with fellow newcomer Mark Tubo.
The weigh-in for the event will be tomorrow at the Games and Amusement Board Office.
