PANGASINAN—The Mindanao Leg of the Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission (POC-PSC) Batang Pinoy 2012 will be moved from Cagayan de City to Dapitan City in Zamboanga del Norte on Nov. 7 to 10.
PSC chairman Ritchie Garcia said they decided upon the recomendation of overall officer-in-charge Jolly Gomez to transfer the venue due to the lack of cooperation from some local officials.
Garcia said that commissioner Gomez has already finalized the transfer of venue with Dapitan City Mayor Patri Bjamundi-Chan.
He said that the Mindanao leg, which is expected to be participated in by more than 1,000 athletes from the region, will be played at the Jose Rizal Memorial State University Complex, the venue of the 2010 Palarong Pambansa.
The Mindanao leg is one of the five qualifying events that hope to discover promising athletes 15 years old and below, who will compose the Team Philippines in the 2014 Olympic Youth Games in Nanjing, China.
