MICHAEL Cinco scattered 34 points to lead Boysen Paints in beating the defending champions Unitec, 71-67 win in the ongoing United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) 3rd Corporate Cup held at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gym last Sunday.
After trailing by a point after the first quarter, Boysen Paints rallied harder in the next two quarters to build a 17-point lead, 60-43, entering the final period.
Unitec slowly bounced back in the final period behind the efforts of Ferdinand Tiro and Oliver Tan, but a 24-point production was not enough to bail out the defending champions from defeat.
The win lifted Boysen Paints to a tie with Unitec with a 4-1 slate, but by virtue of that victory, Boysen Paints took over the leadership in the team standings.
Meanwhile, Jonas Panerio topscored for 27 points to lead Durabend to a scary 77-76 win over Puyat Steel and Matimco finally arrested a four-game losing streak after beating Cebu Homes, 70-61.
