SAN Remegio will host the first leg of the 2nd Tri Team Championship series dubbed “Cebu Loves Tri Team Championship Series” on Nov. 24 and 25 at the Lapyahan public beach.

This was announced by Mayor Jay Olivar during a press conference yesterday together with newly elected President of Sugbutriathlon Ric Dizon, Benjoe Gimenez, Anton Regis, Franz Baguio, Ralph Arche and Sports Adventure Travel Services Jesse Arriola.

“We have been hosting several sporting events in the past such as boxing and beach volleyball but I consider hosting this triathlon race as very challenging and a good opportunity to showcase what San Remegio can offer for our out-of-town participants,” Olivar said.

He added that this can be a big boost for their tourism as the race is expecting to draw more than 100 after the sport regained its popularity with Cebu hosting major races like the Vaseline men Xterra Off-road triathlon race and the Cobra Ironman 70.3.

The race will feature a team championship division for four-man teams, relay and kiddies division. The age groups will be 8-under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, 19-Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50-above.
