Stream keeps title behind Bibera

EDWIN Bibera saved the best for last as he proved to be a monster inside the paint to lead defending champions Stream Ingenyouity to a title-retention victory, 65-53, over Southern Conference champions Teletech Titans in Game 2 of the Sun Cellular-CSCC E-League 2012 Finals held at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym last Saturday.
The former University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars center scored the game high 19 points on top of 14 rebounds, one assist, three steals and three blocks to lead Stream in sweeping the best-of-three finals series.
Bibera’s exploits were enough to earn him the Finals MVP title and the victory also
earned Stream coach Armand Colina the Coach of the Year award.
Stream was right on target as they started the game on a hot note, leaving Teletech 19-11 in the opening to set the tone for victory.
The Titans fought back briefly as they cut down the lead 21-27 at the close of the first half before they saw the best from Bibera and his teammates.
Louie Arroyo provided timely contributions for Stream as he finished with 12 points including six rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
South Season MVP Sherwin Resilla led the Titans as he delivered 12 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two steals, Lourenz also hit double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Sherwin Anghay finished with 12.
During the halftime break, E-League awarded the top individuals who made impressions in the six-month tournament.
Those awarded were Resilla (South Conference MVP), Aeral Genebraldo of Callteck (Northern Conference MVP), Frenche Bonn Petallo of Teleperformance awarded as the Blocks King (2.78 blocks per game, Giovannie Villahermosa of Lexmark – the Assists Leader (4.33 assists per game), Ibhar Je Del Mar of Convergys – the Steals King (3.38 steals per game), Paul Linke of Cebu Global as the King of the Boards (10.62 rebounds per game) and scoring champion Kenneth Abrantes of Odusee (23.0 points per game).
The Mythical 5 Selection includes Resilla (73.33 statistical points), Abrantes (69.50sp), Genebraldo (68.70), Ariel Edera of Kyocera (61.10) and Franco Cipriano (64.14).
Abrantes was also named the Rookie of the Year.
