CEBU’s top mountain biker Nino Surban improved his 13th overall finish in 2010 by barging into the top 10 of the Asian Mountainbike Championship 2012 in Lebanon.

It was his first major race this year and he was overwhelmed that he made the top 10.

He failed to join the same race in China last year because of a problem with his passport.

“For me to continue improving, I need more international exposure,” Surban said.

That is why he plans to join an event in India but that would be up to his patron Oscar Rodriguez.

Surban was supposed to race in the Langkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge, which started yesterday in Malaysia, but had to beg off because of a conflict of schedule.

During last year’s Langkawi event, he placed seventh in Stage 4 and was the only Asian rider to make a top 10 finish.
