Aloguinsan to hold first eco trail run this Sunday

ONE race to promote tourism and another to send a child to school are what’s in store for the local running community this Sunday in the Aloguinsan Eco Adventure Run and the St. Alphonsian Run.
To help promote Aloguinsan as an eco-tourism destination in the southwestern part of Cebu, the town will host the Aloguinsan Eco Adventure Run this Sunday at the municipal grounds.
It will feature a premier half-marathon race, a 10K open and 3K for locals category.
Runners will get to traverse a scenic route in Aloguinsan, which will feature a asphalted roads, offroads, rivers and bridges. They will also get to a peak that features a view of the Tañon strait and Negros Island.
Those registered in the 21K will have an option to either try the river tour at Bojo River or snorkel at Cantabogon beach.
A carbo-loading party will be hosted at the municipal hall tonight at 6:30 and runners are advised to present their race bibs.
Alphonsian Run
The winners in the 21K will get P5,000, while the 10K and 3K champions will pocket P3,000 and P2,000, respectively.
Locals will have the chance to win special awards such as the fastest family, best in costume, oldest and youngest runners.
Meanwhile, the third edition of the Alphonsian Run at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall grounds will have the 15K, 6K and 3K divisions. It will be for the benefit of the St. Alphonsus Catholic School Alumni Association and Sr. Restituta Scholarship Foundation.
Cash prizes, medals and freebies will be given to the top three runners of each category. There will also be separate prizes for the top three Alphonsian runners.
The biggest group of runners will also receive a special prize.
