Kiamco stays alive in US Open

MANILA—Pinoy pool wizards Warren Kiamco, Ramon Mistica and Daniel Dagotdot toppled their rivals to stay in contention in the 37th Annual U.S.Open in Virginia, USA yesterday.
The Pasil, Cebu native Kiamco blasted Jo Garcia, 11-0, in the losers’ side, while Mistica nipped Larry Faulk, 11-6. Dagotdot crushed Panopoulos, 11-5.
However, Reynaldo Campaña bowed out in the longest running US 9-ball event after suffering his second loss, 11-7, to Shannon Fitch.
Action in the winners’ bracket resumes today with hall-of-famer Efren Reyes facing Thorsten Hohmann of Germany, while Dennis Orcollo takes on Mark Gray of Great Britain.
Former world champion Alex Pagulayan will take on compatriot Santos Simbajon, while Israel Rota will face Donny Mills of the USA. In other matches, it will be Ronato Alcano against David Alcaiade, Francisco Bustamante against Mika Immonnen and Carlo Biado against Tom D’Alfonso. (PR)
